Outfitter Learn · Front Desk · Question

What won’t Front Desk say to a caller?

The short answer

Front Desk never quotes a price you didn’t give it, never promises a start date or a same-day visit, and never tells a caller a time is confirmed. It never pretends to be you or to be human. Everything it’s allowed to say came from you, and you can read it word for word in your workspace.

Who it’s for: Owners who worry an AI will promise something on their behalf that they can't deliver.

What happens when a caller asks for something it can't promise

  1. A caller asks “how much?” If you gave Front Desk a price, it can share it. If not, it says you’ll go over pricing and takes the details.

  2. A caller asks it to come today. Unless you told it same-day is fine, it doesn’t promise it and marks the call urgent if it is.

  3. A caller asks something it doesn’t know. It says so, takes the question and a callback number, and texts it to you.

Your never-promise list

During the ten-minute setup interview, Front Desk asks what you never want promised. Some contractors never discuss price on the phone. Others won’t commit to weekends. Whatever you say goes on the list. Change it any time by calling your own line. It reads the change back, you say yes, and the next caller hears the new rule.

What it won’t do

An example

On the setup call, a roofer gives Front Desk two rules. Never promise a start date, and never price a tear-off over the phone. Later a homeowner asks how soon he can start and what a new roof runs. Front Desk takes the address and what’s going on. It says the owner will call back about timing and price, and texts the roofer.

Common questions

Will Front Desk give a caller a price?
Only a price you gave it. It never invents a price, a date or a policy.
Can Front Desk promise a same-day visit?
Not unless you told it to. Same-day visits and start dates stay off the table by default.
Does it ever pretend to be me?
No. Even in your own voice, it says it's your AI assistant at the start of every call.
How do I see what it's allowed to say?
Everything it knows is in your workspace, word for word. You can change it there or by calling your own line.
