Do callers know they’re talking to AI?
Yes. Front Desk says it’s an AI assistant in the greeting of every call, whether or not your state requires it. That holds even in your own cloned voice. Callers hear something like “this is Dave’s AI assistant,” so nobody is misled.
Who it’s for: Any contractor who sends missed calls to Front Desk, on a business line or a cell.
What a caller hears
- If you forward your line, your phone rings first. If you don’t pick up, Front Desk answers.
- The greeting says it’s your AI assistant, in your voice or a natural voice you pick.
- It asks the questions you taught it and reads the message back to the caller once before hanging up.
- You get a text and an email with who called, what they wanted in their words, and whether it’s urgent.
Why it says so up front
Several states already require commercial bots to say they’re bots, and more are coming. Front Desk says it everywhere, so you’re covered without tracking the rules state by state. It also just works better on the phone. A caller who knows they’re talking to an assistant gets to the point, instead of spending the first twenty seconds wondering.
What it costs
Front Desk is part of Sales & Marketing, which is free to join. Its calls use tokens at 35 cents a minute. $35 buys 3,500 tokens, about 100 minutes or 18 typical calls.
What it won’t do
- The AI disclosure is in the greeting on every call, in every state.
- It never pretends to be you.
- Your voice is cloned only from a recording you make yourself, with a checkbox confirming it’s your voice. You can delete it any time.
- Voice cloning is in beta. Ask us to turn it on.
An example
A roofer’s wife calls his cell during a tear-off. She hears “Hi, you’ve reached Tom’s phone, I’m his AI assistant.” Her message is taken exactly as she said it, with no business talk. Tom reads it on his break.
